Duties of PSO PC (1) • Advise the ICANN Board on referred matters relating to assignment of parameters for Internet Protocols • Development of policies & procedures for conflict resolution as requested by the signatory SDOs • Development of substantive policies in the area of protocol parameter assignment 11 July 2001, Sophia Antipolis PSO GA

PSO Significant Dates (1) • Aug 2000 ETSI formed Secretariat to PSO PC; Transition of the PSO website & exploder lists IETF => ETSI;6th audio conference achieved: -- Decided PSO GA 2001 to be hosted by ETSI, in conjunction with other meetings of its IP-related Technical Committees (e.g. EP TIPHON, TC SPAN and TC TMN); -- Discussed the deadlock breaking mechanism, if needed for the selection of the PSO nominee to the ICANN Board (the one-year term of Mr. Jean-Francois Abramatic expired October 1st 2000); 11 July 2001, Sophia Antipolis PSO GA

PSO Significant Dates (2) • Sept 2000 7th audio conference achieved: -- Defined an evaluation matrix of criteria for assessing the strengths of the candidates for the ICANN Director; -- Evaluated the profiles of the 3 nominees (Jean-Francois Abramatic, Helmut Schink and Ole Jacobsen); 8th audio conference achieved: -- Final review of the candidates’ background & experience with the Internet culture & relevant technologies; -- Nominated Mr. Helmut Schink as the PSO representative to the ICANN Board for the three-year term beginning October 1st 2000; Notified the ICANN Board of the PSO PC selection; 11 July 2001, Sophia Antipolis PSO GA

PSO Significant Dates (3) • Nov 2000 PSO activities presented to ICANN Meeting (California); • Feb 2001 Completely restructured the PSO website;9th audio conference achieved: -- Analysed the procedure of appointing PSO members to the Independent Review Nominating Committee (IRNC); -- Discussed the organization of the PSO GA (agenda, invited presentations, speakers, web-cast); • March 2001 At ICANN’s request, analysed the proposal for revision of the registry agreement for the .com/.net/.org with regard to potential protocol-related technical issues and provided recommendations to the ICANN Board Meeting (Melbourne); At ICANN’s request, appointed two PSO members to the IRNC: Mr. Houlin Zhao for a three-year term) and Mr. Tim Berners-Lee for a two-year term) 11 July 2001, Sophia Antipolis PSO GA
