Softball Lesson Skills: Video Clip 23. Throwing Grip the ball with fingertips- using 2 or 3 fingers & the thumb.. Turn head toward target & rotate body sideways. Pull ball back, transferring weight to back foot & lifting front foot. Step forward, extend glove to target, throwing arm goes toward target. Snap wrist, release ball, thumb comes off the ball first, fingertips last.
Softball Lesson Skills: Video Clip 24. Catching Line up the glove & your body with ball, pocket of glove toward ball. Ball above waist-Glove fingers up, palm to ball, extend arm, elbow down. Place throwing hand to the side & behind the glove. Ball below waist- Glove fingers down, throwing hand behind glove. Ball caught in front of body, elbows slightly bent to absorb the impact.
Softball Lesson Skills: Video Clip 25. Batting Weight on balls of feet, knees slightly bent, slight bend at waist. Grip bat, hands together, near top of strike zone & near back armpit. Eyes on pitcher, shift weight to back foot as pitcher goes into windup. Stride forward to front foot, pivot back foot (heel facing catcher). Bat knob leads swing, hit & drive ball, swing to opposite shoulder.
