Spiritual Royalty • Today caps off our 2013 Vacation Bible School • This year’s theme is “Spiritual Royalty” taken from I Peter 2:4-10 • This morning we focused together upon a lesson that was built for our theme
Spiritual Royalty • This morning we looked at the fact that we are royalty • We also noticed that because of that fact, there are certain expectations that come along with that royalty • We noticed together 3 main things from our text…
Spiritual Royalty • The three things we looked at this morning were that we are to, as spiritual royalty: • Grow in the Lord (v. 5) • Offer spiritual sacrifices (v. 5) • Proclaim Jesus (v. 9)
Spiritual Royalty • There is still one more thing that we should give consideration to as sons of the King • We know that royalty always finds themselves in the spotlight, or public eye • Therefore we must consider our…
Spiritual Royalty • 1. Conduct • When you are royalty you represent something greater than yourself • We represent and wear the name of Christ (Acts 4:12; 11:26) • We must act in accordance to His will, to be good representatives of Him (II Cor. 5:20)
Spiritual Royalty • 1. Conduct • Jesus said that we are to be a light to the world (Matt. 5:14-16) • Paul speaks of how a Christian should behave (Rom. 12:9-21) • Our conduct is to be one of contentment (Heb. 13:5)
Spiritual Royalty • 2. Speech • People not only notice how we act, but they also notice how we talk and what we say • It may be that perhaps more damage could be done by what we say then by how we act • One reveals the truth of the other
Spiritual Royalty • 2. Speech • James has taught us just how powerful the tongue can be (Js. 3) • We are taught to use our words for encouragement (Eph. 4:29-32; Col. 4:6) • Remember our speech reflects our hearts (Matt. 12:34-37; 15:18)
