Histoplasmosis is a serious health danger that can be brought on by pigeon infestations. The infective fungus spores are found in pigeon faeces and can readily travel through the air and penetrate the ventilation systems of houses and business buildings, putting everyone within in danger. Pigeon droppings should never be cleaned up by the general public; instead, professional pigeon exterminators should be contacted. This is because doing so can expose them to histoplasmosis.
