Mide 12 a 16 cm. • Forma grandes cardúmenes y es lo que más abunda en el mar peruano. • Se alimenta de plancton, principalmente de zooplancton y fitoplancton. • Se reproduce todo e l año en la costa peruana. Pincipalmente en la primavera y en verano. • Es nutritiva por su alto contenido proteico omega3. • Es recomendable en los bebés: Forma el tejido nervioso y la función visual. • En los niños de edad escolar: Aumenta su coeficiente intelectual. • En las mujeres previene el cáncer a la mama y al colon.
