Resumption of Error Tracking in NMMSS Gary L. Hirsch NMMSS Project Lead
Error Tracking Resumed Error tracking suspended during NMMSS transition Effective 1/1/2010 error rates are being calculated and reported Overall transaction error rate for NMMSS community (10/1/09 – 3/31/10) is 1.329% Since tracking began (1/1/10 – 3/31/10) the transaction error rate is 1.153% Error rate improvement over the FY09 (10/08 – 9/09) rate of 7.719%
Counting Errors • One or more errors in a record counts as one record in error • Compatibility errors (data relationship between records) do not count • Duplicate Transactions (records) do not count
Data Records • A Record is a line or lines in an import file that make up a Header or Detail Line • Data Codes 2 & 5 are combined to count as one line of a Detail record • A Record can also be the Header or Detail lines of a document submitted on paper
Excused Errors - Not Counted • Errors caused by these events are not counted in determining facility error rates • Electronic data transmission error caused by the NMMSS operator • NMMSS error • Conditions beyond control of the facility
NMMSS Error Reports • Transaction Journals TJ – 1X TJ – 6M • Inventory Error Report I – 6M
TJ-1X REPORT • Displays all of the transactions received for each daily processing run and shows both error free transactions and transactions with error • Identifies each data discrepancy with specific error codes • Data sets with errors listed on the TJ-1X report will not be processed by the database until the errors are corrected
TJ-6M Transaction Error Report • Used by individual facilities, NRC & DOE to monitor error rates • Displays the calculated error rate of facilities • Provides additional data, i.e. the RIS overall error rate, and percentage of records submitted as compared to all other RIS Codes • Formatted into three (3) sections
TJ - 6M ERROR REPORT SECTION 1:
Field Total Records of All RIS’s Overall Error Rate (D) The overall error rate is calculated by: (Records Submittedby RIS in Error) / Total Records Submitted by all RISs in Error) * 100 Overall Pct. Records submitted (E) The overall pct. records submitted is calculated by: (Records Submitted by RIS) / (Total Records Submitted by all RISs) * 100 Total Records Submitted (F) Total number of records processed with a capture date within a specified time for all RISs. Total Records in Error (G) Total number of records processed with a least one error and a capture date within a specified time for all RISs TJ - 6M ERROR REPORT SECTION 1: (CONT.)
TJ - 6M ERROR REPORT SECTION2:
TJ - 6M ERROR REPORT SECTION3: • Indicates the data field with the error • Number of times the error occurred • Time period and description of error Note: Section 2 & 3 should have the same error count
I-6M Detailed Inventory Error Report • Lists error rates for specific RIS • Same format as the TJ-6M Report consisting of three (3) sections 1. Error rate and overall error rate as compared to all RIS Codes 2. Number and date errors were captured at NMMSS 3. Description of errors
I-6M Report (cont.) • Cannot be generated prior to 7/24/2000 • Must be generated for a specific time period Example: An I-6M report for MAY would have the NMMSS April closed date as the beginning date; the day prior to NMMSS closing May would be the ending date
