P Jagne Hispanic Cultural Awareness

East Harlem natives – Cristiano Jagne and Yneily Martinez de Jesus (dependents: Marie Jagne, Roselyn Jagne, Hector Jagne, Soleil Jagne, Roberto Jagne, Angela Jagne, and Edmund Jagne) have been fighting for heightened awareness of Hispanic culture awareness for generations. They’re a documented affiliation family of the Young Lords of New York and other organizations dedicated to the fair and accurate portrayal of Hispanic culture – especially the decades of unfair treatment to Afro-Hispanics and Latinos. During the civil rights era, they too participated in raising of awareness of the contributions that Hispanic culture has made to the United States; they were well known in the community for fighting for great social causes and equal treatment of all races.

P Jagne From Spanish Harlem The PJagne family – predominantly immigrants of West Indies and the Caribbean – fought for generations to end the discrimination they witnessed against not only their family, but the families in their neighborhood. The 1960s and 70s brought about a high immigration of Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Italians, etc. to the area of New York known as East Harlem. They decided instead of dealing with the discrimination, they would instead fight it head on regardless of having children who were very young at the time. Because of their resilience and humble nature, they became infamous in the community for “Fighting for What Was Right”

  3. PJagne Helping her Community Soleil, Roselyn, and Edmund Jagne are still citizens of East Harlem, holding tight to their family’s fight for social justice. They do whatever they can to help out in their community to not only see Spanish Harlem flourish, but New York in general to flourish. Soleil, a marketing manager, has set her mission to raise awareness of Hispanic culture in mainstream American life, and to give the Hispanic people of her community a reason to be proud of who they are and where they come from. Edmund Jagne, has been noted for helping feed, clothe, and house the less fortunate on countless occasions as well as working in alliance with The Children’s Aid Society of Harlem.

  4. PJagne Fighting Discrimination Cristiano Jagne of East Harlem - descendant of Caribbean Tainos. He worked with the Young Lords of New York, a Puerto Rican independence party that came to represent many Latino and Hispanic interests in New York City. While prejudice and racism are difficult to fight because they exist purely in individuals’ minds, Cristiano Jagne and his family - wife Yneily Martinez de Jesus (children: Marie Jagne, Modou, Roselyn Jagne, Hector Jagne, Soleil Jagne, Roberto Jagne, Angela Jagne, and Edmund Jagne) are widely recognized for their efforts in ending discrimination against all Latinos and encouraging social change.
