Industry, offices, and homes have their own facilities with internet connections. Current internet trends and problems show the need for a transformation to accommodate new service offerings. Proposal includes grid computing and sensor networks for efficient processing and storage.

Recent Trends • Currently web 2.0 is changing the way we browse the Internet • Also SaaS (Software as a Service) services are increasing • These new service trends requires huge processing and storage power as well as security and accounting which current Internet is not quit capable to provide • There is a need to transform the Internet from a data transmission pipe into a vast platform for hosting a wide array of services available to the world's six billion inhabitants

Problems of Current Internet • Spam e-mail or messages and worm attacks • Difficulties to update or use different patches for the antivirus to communicate with globally distributed system • Difficulties to use computational power and storage to support different online services • Still facing bandwidth problem

Proposal • Grid computing can be used in Future Internet to provide new services • Grid is an emerging global infrastructure that combines geographically distributed and heterogeneous computing capabilities into a single, powerful computing resource • Grid has strong security mechanism which also can alleviate current Internet security problem

  6. In the future, third parties provide facilities (Grid service providers); users get access to services. Businesses can also offer services over the Grid, an extension to the electricity grid analogy. Grid offering services Grid Computing Vision Grid service provider

Proposal (Cont’d) • Sensor networks need to be attached in Future Internet • But processing and storing huge sensor data is not possible within current Internet • So we propose Grid-based solution which can process and store huge sensor data efficiently for various ubiquitous Future Internet services • Also dissemination of sensor data is required for this new services • We need to design an information dissemination system to enable this new service on Future Internet
