  1. HP LDSU LDAP Directory Synchronization Utility Contact LDSU Support: HP Services dirsolutions@hp.com +01-301-918-5665

  2. LDSU History • Based on previous products: XDSU, DSU • LDSU V1.0 released in 1998 • First use was for the successful Compaq/Digital synch of 101,000 records in June 1998 • Used again for the HP/Compaq synch (ongoing since May 2002) • Sold to over 80 customers in 15 countries. • LDSU 2.2 released in September 2003 HP LDSU

  3. LDSU Highlights • Uses LDAP Protocol – LDSU is an LDAP Client • Directory Independent: • Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange 5.5 Directory • iPlanet/Netscape/Sun Directory • Novell eDirectory • Lotus Notes Domino • X.500 Directories • OpenLDAP • Anything that supports LDAP V3 or V2 • Platform Independent: • Runs on Windows, OpenVMS, Unix (HP-UX, Tru64, Linux, Solaris) • LDSU can also be used with non-LDAP Data Sources HP LDSU

  4. LDSU – Typical Enterprise Uses Used When Enterprises need to: • Synch email directories (want all email addresses in all directories) • Combine (join) HR and email information in one directory • User Provisioning (e.g Windows/Exchange Users from HR Feed) • Create a central directory from various sources • Migrate from one directory to another • Synch with an Internet Border Directory HP LDSU

  5. LDSU Positioning • LDSU fits in-between high-end “Meta-directory” products and Single Purpose Connectors • LDSU has the Power, Flexibility, and Reliability of more complicated “Meta-directory” products • LDSU has the ease-of-setup, low-maintenance, and few moving parts of a Single Purpose Connector HP LDSU

  6. LDSU Pricing & Licensing One LDSU license needed per machine LDSU runs on • Main license – unlimited entries $20,000 • Each additional license $10,000 • Optional 1 year warranty and support $ 5,000 • HP Consulting & Integration Services Optional (20% US Government GSA Discount) HP LDSU

  7. LDSU Technical Overview • LDSU runs on 1 central box in your network • A synch solution = a series of LDSU “Instances” • Each LDSU Instance either: • Imports Data from a text file into an LDAP directory • Exports Data from an LDAP directory into a text file • A bi-directional synch of 2 LDAP directories consists of 4 instances (2 Exports, 2 Imports) • Non LDAP Data Sources supply/accept a text file HP LDSU

  8. LDSU Instance Components • Configuration File (e.g. ldsu_config.dat) • Defines Mode, Directory, Files, Options • Layout File (e.g. ldsu_layout.dat) • Defines directory attributes (shadow schema) • Record Definition File (RDF) (e.g. export.rdf) • Defines fields to text file format mapping • Text File (e.g. export.txt) • Flat file (input for Import, output for Export) HP LDSU

  9. LDSU Modes • Import – replicate full copy of entries into directory • Transaction – add, modify, and/or delete entries from add, modify, delete input files. • Export – export all entries, or subset of entries • Changes – export changed entries into add, modify, delete output files • Update – modify directory entries based on existing directory data • Reformat – convert text files HP LDSU
