  2. Objectives • To help students think about career choices and course decisions for high school • Complete Career Key through Family Connection to help identify your high interest areas • Explore careers that match your high interest areas – as a beginning step.

Where do I want to go? • Who Am I? • Life After High School • There are a lot of “where’s” – apprenticeships, career/technical schools, employment, military opportunities, colleges and universities. It’s important to choose a “where” that fits you. • Interests & Skills • What do I like and dislike? (Interests) • What do I do well? (Skills) 3. How will I get there? Academic Plan (Classes) All good roads to your future go through high school.

  6. What is Career Key? Online career assessment tool used through the Naviance program Based on Holland’s Theory of Career Choice Research shows that personality/college majors/career matches predict success and satisfaction

  7. Log into Naviance at https://connection.naviance.com/graniteoaks • Your username is the same as your Rocklin USD Google account • Your password is your Student ID.

  8. Career Key Assessment • Click on the “About Me” section at the top of the page • Look for the my assessment section and click on “Career Key” • Know Yourself: • Take the Career Key assessment • Know your options: • Learn about the jobs that interest you

  9. Career Key Results • Read traits associated with the highest score • Click on “View Careers” • Then, pick six careers from your first and second highest career options and “Save to My List”

  10. On the home page, click on the “CAREERS” tab

  11. Click on “Explore Careers &Clusters”

  12. Exploring Careers Pick one career to learn about Click the “Knowledge and Skills” tab: What are the most important skills? What are the most important abilities? What are the most important knowledge areas?

  13. Exploring Careers Click the “Typical Tasks”: Name two typical tasks performed with this career. Click the “Wages”: What part of the country makes the most doing this job?
