SITUATION IN MEXICO… MEXICO HAS MANY KEY INGREDIENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL DEVELOPMENT OF BROADBAND UNIVERSITY NETWORKS… • MANY UNIVERSITIES ALREADY HAVE MODERN INTERNAL NETWORKS AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS THAT COULD BENEFIT FROM A BROADBAND PLATFORM TO ENHANCE THEIR HIGHER EDUCATION OFFERINGS • A PROGRESSIVE TELECOMMUNICATIONS REGULATORY REGIME • A MODERN TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE

  7. STRATEGY... THE STRATEGY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNET 2 IN MEXICO WAS BASED UPON THE WILLINGNESS OF 7 LEADING UNIVERSITIES TO BEAR THE COST, ON A PRO-RATA BASIS, OF THE INSTALLATION OF A HIGH SPEED NETWORK TO INTERCONNECT THEIR NODES
