Construction Inspector Development Program On the Job Training (OJT) • OJT is an important part of developing a knowledgeable and competent inspector. • Inexperienced inspectors are routinely trained in the field by more experienced senior inspectors. • The IDP is not meant to be a substitute for good old fashioned OJT. • IDP is a tool to be used by District Engineers, Area Engineers, and third parties to aid in the development and refreshment of skills, knowledge, and best practices that are best learned on the project.
