  1. Welcome, housekeeping, announcements • Reflections on first year of CCGPS • Overview of Analytic Geometry and Advanced Algebra • Breakout groups to plan for 1-Term courses • Coordinate Algebra • Analytic Geometry • Advanced Algebra

  2. Be sure to sign in and include last 4 digits of SSN to receive 1 PLU. • To earn PLU, attend both days; otherwise hours can be recorded on a learning log. • Complete/turn in registration form. • Take breaks as needed. • Lunch will be from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. • We will need to dismiss at 3 p.m.

  3. Purpose • Review/revise GPS calendars • Create Pre-Calculus/Math 4 calendars • Write AP Stats syllabus and calendars • Possible dates • May 28, May 29, May 30, or May 31 • Feedback requested; take Doodle poll: http://doodle.com/sg3c7yv4icrxctff

  4. Mathematics of Industry and Government • Free professional development through CEISMC • Work at your own pace • For more info and to register, go to https://www.ceismc.gatech.edu/ freeplucourses

  5. SBOE Rule 160-5-1-.15: Awarding units of credit • SWD can opt out of third math course • Students can “test out” of EOCT courses • Can only earn up to 3 credits this way • Must meet requirements • Not currently enrolled in the course • Earned a B or better in previous course in content area • Received teacher recommendation / parental permission • Must score at Exceeds level to receive credit; otherwise must enroll in course Draft guidelines at http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Curriculum-and-Instruction/Documents/DRAFT%20Guidelines%20%20Awarding%20Units%20of%20Credit%20160-5-1-%2015%20%20%202-15-13%20with%20Appendices.pdf

  6. Career-based math tasks • $200 honorarium/task • Submit by May 1 to GaDOE • Student work samples by May 17 to GaDOE More information at http://ccgpsmathematics9-10.wikispaces.com/Opportunities#taskchallenge

  7. What has gone well this year? • What were the challenges? • What needs to be improved and how? • How useful was … • the pacing guide? • the shared drive? • Edmodo? • GaDOE’s webinars and wiki?

  8. Extension of work with congruence and similarity • Major emphasis on quadratics • Recognize key features • Rewrite in various forms • Solve quadratic equations • Solve systems of linear and quadratic equations • Compare to linear and exponential • Model relationships between two quantitative variables; assess fit of the model

  9. Build on work with transformations to develop proofs of geometric relationships. • Extend work with linear and exponential expressions, equations, systems, and inequalities to quadratics. • Analyze functions in terms of transformations. • Extend work with number system to the complex numbers.

  10. Fluency with triangle congruence and similarity criteria • Fluency in operations with polynomials • Fluency in graphing linear, exponential, and quadratic functions and in interpreting key features when given any representation

  11. Apply methods from probability and statistics to draw inferences and conclusions from data. • Expand understanding of functions: • polynomial functions • rational functions • radical functions • Expand understanding of right triangle trig to model periodic phenomena.

  12. Graphing functions • Interpreting key features of any representation of a function • Effects of parameter changes on a function • Performing algebraic manipulations

  13. Choose your group: • Coordinate Algebra • Analytic Geometry • Advanced Algebra • Work on pacing guide for 1-term course. • Blank calendars are on the shared drive. • Save to the 2013-2014 Course Calendars folder. • Make sure to rename each calendar using the course name.

  14. Shared drive: \\werz-crcshare\f\math • HMH textbooks • Go to preview.hrw.com. • Enter sample word:  GAMA13. • Enter your contact information. • Receive your username and password.  Be sure to record this in a place where you will be able to easily retrieve it. • Log in at my.hrw.com.

  15. Where are we? • Where to we go from here? • What needs to be done before our next meeting? • Next meeting: • May 1 • 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. • SD2
