  18. Education = Key to Systems Council & IEEE • IEEE “Expert Now” • Lower Cost Delivery Mechanisms • Accreditation & Sys Eng Certification • $3M for Accreditation; Cert = CS, ComSoc • Global Outreach • Partnerships with Societies • CS PodCasts; Paul Croll • CS “Ready Notes”, Paul Croll

  19. Constraints to Growth & Issues • Start Up Unit…Low Reserves…TAB “Watch List” • Huge, Global Scope • No “Individual” Members • Limited Cash • Limited Volunteer Pool • Relationships w/Non-Societies • Fear of “Turf Invasions”

  20. Key Strategic Questions & Steps • Who are our Customers? • What are our Products & Services? • Which World Regions & Which SoS 1st? • How to fund our “start-up”? • Outreaches: #1 = Society Presidents; Then PMI, INCOSE++ • Joint Chapters (LA, GTRI, SF, Dayton, Seattle, S-TX) • Sys C “Sales Package” • Cross-Marketing of Society Products & Services via Web++ • Work Transnational with Companies, MGAB, Local Societies…

  21. Open DialogSystems Council • Your Issues? • Your Ideas & Proposals? • “Fear Factor”? • What Stops You and Others? • Next Steps? Today’s Success Criteria = You Act, We Support, We Build Together

  22. Strategy Process Check - + • Good in General x2 • Start w/Sys C Annual Conf for evolution • Did a good job on strategy concerns • Met early, basic goals • Help IEEe societies see a bigger picture • To be successful, 3 Jobs: Technical, Infrastructure, Future Thinking…this did a good job on #1 and #2…need to work interstitial spaces between societies. • Technical Committee…seek people that worked already from our conf/journal..get 3 TCs. • Loved the meeting…I favorite foresight • Council must play a major role in the teaching of systems engineering • Need Other Societies & members • Need more actionable steps; Pick 1-2 items and do. Do “Specialist Meetings • Can’t do this work in ½ day…next 2-5 years • Concern about Conf…always a bite…$$ risk • Too much broad focus • Not followed thru on last 2 years of items • Done 0 on Stds, Energy Conf, etc 2x • Focus/Follow-up on old things 1st 2x • Fully functional but not on all cylinders • Need who we are, where we want to go, incremental steps…need Plan • Need to engage members and give action items • Focus on 2-3 strategic items vs 10 • Need reps with personal interest in Sys C
