Why do we have a Dress Code at Cox Mill? We value an atmosphere and culture at Cox Mill that respects individuality, but also respects learning. The Cabarrus County Board of Education believes that the student dress greatly affects your academic performance and their interaction with other students. The staff and administration at Cox Mill High School will support the board in addressing dress code and an atmosphere that gives each of you the best opportunity to exceed!
Shorts, skirts, and dresses that are higher than three inches above the knee must be worn with leggings. No Yes *Any tight fitting clothing, such as dress and skirt, that length changes with movement will be evaluated by an administrator.
Pants, shorts, and skirts may not have holes, slashing or mesh above the knee that exposes skin or undergarments. No Yes
Tops must cover a student’s midsection and back at all times. No plunging necklines or exposed cleavage. No No No
Tops may not have arm holes that expose any section of the rib cage. Shirts may not be mesh or see-through and expose the torso.
Tops & dresses may not be strapless. Straps must be the width of a student’s ID card.
Pants must be worn at the waist and not reveal clothing, underwear, or skin.Undergarments may not be visible.
Articles of clothing and accessories (including jewelry, emblems, tattoos or body markings) may not:*advocate drug, alcohol, or tobacco use.*depict inappropriate or suggestive language or pictures*depict gang affiliation*discriminate against particular groups
Pajama pants, tops, blankets, and slippers are not permitted.
Headwear • The CCS Parent-Student Handbook states that the following items are NOT permitted to be worn inside school buildings: • Sunglasses, hats, caps, stocking caps, toboggans, bandannas, skull caps or any other headgear is not permitted to be worn inside of the building except for reasons of health or religion. • A bandana, as defined by Webster’s dictionary, is a large often colorfully patterned handkerchief (square piece of cloth). • Please remove any of these items as you enter the building each day and do not put them back on until you leave the building.
Excessive face painting, chains and jewelry containing spikes, and excessively long or oversized shirts are not permitted
Consequences Warning, change of attire and parent contact. After School Detention, change of attire and parent contact. Saturday School, change of attire and parent contact. One day of ISS, change of attire and parent contact. Administrative discretion.
