Students at FAMU were significantly more likely than students at UF to start their first diet at a later age (17.01 years vs. 15.45 years) (p<.001). Mean BMI for all respondents was 25.24±5.56. FAMU 25.62±6.00 UF 24.89 ±5.10 No significant difference, p>.05 1) To assess body satisfaction and identify dieting behaviors among African American college females. 2) To compare differences in these variables between students at a predominantly white university (University of Florida) and a historically black college and university (Florida A & M). Participants were recruited from sororities, student organizations, and various locations around campus.
