Malmö – the growth center of the region • Population increased for the 30th year in a row (+5,113 in 2014) • In 20 years, Malmö’s population has increased by 75,000 residents (+31%) • Malmö had about 1.5 million visitorsstaying overnight in commercial lodgings in 2014 (73% from Sweden, 27% international of which Germany, Denmark and GB are the most represented countries) • Malmö is ranked number 21 in Sweden concerning the number of new companies in 2014 - 7.5 new companies/1,000 inhabitants. Development and opportunities • A positive long-term development in the number of employees in Malmö within corporate services, IT and computer consultants, hotels and restaurants, education, and within trade • Malmö’s profile areas: • Cleantech • Creative industries /New media • Life Science • Trade • Hospitality industry • Logistics • Headquarters • Duni, Vestas, Elfa, Mercedes-Benz, Brio, Thuleand Peugeot are examples of new headquarters in MalmöIKEA will locate new offices for global staff functions and training centre to Malmö • Cleantech is one of Malmö’s seven profile areas
