Meeting Objectives: • We will outline the protocols for administration and analysis of the following assessments: • Fast Track Comprehension Testing • Fast Track Level 1 Vowel Pattern Testing • We will provide instructions for entering data results on Galileo.
Because struggling readers often have difficulty demonstrating their comprehension in standardized test formats, short answer assessments have been compiled. These alternative format assessments will allow teachers a way to gauge student gains in specific reading and writing skills.
Materials for Short Answer Testing Copy of grade level specific test question sheets aligned to area of study for each student in classroom. Copy of appropriate FT testing passage for each student. Scoring rubric
Administration • One prompt per tested area of study (4) • Not grade level specific- given to all students receiving instruction in that area of study. • Located at the bottom of each testing area of study cover sheet • Administration directions included on the Fast Track Short Answer Comprehension Tests information sheet
Scoring • Analyze student’s writing sample using descriptors on rubric. • Assign score • for each of 5 areas of rubric • Use your analysis to support instructional planning. • Rubric scores will not be recorded on • Galileo.
Vowel Pattern, Comp. Tests A, B, C, and 2008-09 Writing Prompts Now on Galileo: • 2008-09 Comprehension tests for Levels 2-5. Re-numbered to align with Galileo format. • Vowel Pattern assessments grouped in sets of three. Scantron or on-line 2008-09 Writing Prompts are not on Galileo. Test Scoring- on line
