Symptoms • Diarrhea (May be Bloody) • Stomach Cramps • Abdominal pain • Fever • Fatigue • Nausea • Vomiting • Rash • Being grumpy or stubborn.
Possible Sources • Animals(Fair) • Food(Fair) • Un-Pasteurized Dairy Products(Fair) • Other people(Contagious)
Plan For Cures There is no cure for E. coli but some things you can do are… • Drink lots of fluids • Rest • Avoid anti-diarrhea medicine • Avoid foods that are diary products, foods with lots of fat, foods that have high fiber content, and highly seasoned foods. • Careful regulation of fluids and essential minerals • Dialysis, to filter waste products from their blood. (Some people with kidney failure caused by E. coli infection require dialysis) • Blood transfusion(to treat anemia by giving them additional oxygen-rich red blood cells)
Preventing E. Coli • Washing hands (after eating and touching animals) • Thoroughly cooked meat • No raw eggs • Unpasteurized dairy products
