  2. 1990’es - Dawn of Epics in Japan • KEK looked for new control framework • For KEKB project (after TRISTAN) • 1993 • KEKB staff found EPICS during ICALEPCS1993 in Berlin • 1994-95 • Bob Dalesio visited KEK, and installed 1st EPICS in Japan • A year later, KEK decided to introduce EPICS for KEKB May 2017 in KURRI, kami, KEK/J-PARC

  3. 2000’es – Extend in Asia • Core University Program (拠点大学交流事業) • ・・ was a fund to encourage international cooperative research, provided by Japanese government <http://www.jsps.go.jp/english/e-core/index.html> • During 2000-2010, program for Accelerator Science between China, Korea, India and Japan • EPICS seminars were held in: • Shanghai(2000), Beijing(2001), Hefei(2004), Kolkata(2006) May 2017 in KURRI, kami, KEK/J-PARC

Program finished, extensions have been continued in all countries May 2017 in KURRI, kami, KEK/J-PARC

  7. 2010’es – Expand more • Expanding in non-accel. fields (continued) 2) Nuclear fusion • ITER (in France) decided to use EPICS: then in Japan • IFMIF(International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility) (Rokkasho, Aomori) • QST(National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology) (Naka, Ibaraki) 3) Gravitational wave • LIGO (in USA) has been using EPICS: then in Japan • KAGRA(Kamioka Gravitational wave detector) Detected by LIGO on Sept.14, 2015 IFMIF, QST, KAGRA – they are interested in EPICS • Less man-power, but .. • To be EPICS collaborators in the near future • Presentations on Wednesday May 2017 in KURRI, kami, KEK/J-PARC
