  2. “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

  3. Knows When & Why to Fight: For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? 1 Samuel17:26 The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lord’s anointed. 1 Samuel 24:6

  4. Has Passion for God: David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might,  while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets. 2 Samuel 6:14

  5. Has Compassion for the Helpless: Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table. 2 Samuel 9:7

  6. Is Willing to Confess Wrong: “I have sinned against the Lord.” 2 Samuel 12:13

Prepares Future Leaders Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn. 1 Kings 2:2

  8. ‘I have found in David… a man after my heart, who will do all my will. ‘ Acts 13:22 For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers. Acts 13:36
