Digital Learning Day • Digital Learning Day in Ohio: February 5, 2014 • A national campaign to spotlight successful instructional practice and effective use of technology across the country • opportunity to celebrate Ohio’s commitment to increasing student access to quality digital and blended learning Video Contest: Ohio students are invited to showcase their creative talents and technology skills in a video contest with students across Ohio. You can create a video on your own or with a team. 8. BookFLIX titles now available in ERES(INFOhio E-Resource database) • Available through your online catalog in the main catalog only – not in Cat Jr. • Available in Discovery Portal on the Elementary Level only, as our contract with Scholastic does not permit advertised access for students above elementary K-6 grades.

9. Using CAT: • Make sure that the checkbox to include eBooks is checked. • 2) Do a title search for a BookFLIX title.  Ex: "bark George“ • 3) Along the right side, in the results list for INFOhio Videos and eBooks, you should see the "Bark, George" title listed. • 4) Click on it... which will display its record in the ERES catalog. •       a) If your IP is not authenticated (ex: accessing from home), you will have to first provide a valid U/P... it can be either the state U/P or a district specific U/P. • 5) From the ERES display, click on the little green guy "Read It Now" image to bring up the specific title pair directly in BookFlix.

10. Using Discovery Portal (DP): To be in compliance with our Scholastic licensing agreement, BookFLIX titles will NOT display in the Middle or High school portals. In DP, BookFLIX titles are only searchable in the following portals:  Elementary, Literature Guide, Parents, Educators and Librarian portals. 1) Go into one of the valid DP portals for BookFLIX searching.       a) If your IP is not authenticated (ex: accessing from home), you will have to first provide a valid U/P...it can be either the state U/P or a district specific U/P. 2) Do either an "Everything" search or specifically search the INFOhio eResource Collection for a BookFLIX title:  ex:  "bark George“ 3) Find the title on the results list and bring up the title pair in BookFLIX by:       a) Clicking on the little green guy "Read It Now" image OR b) Clicking on the title, then clicking on the little green guy "Read it Now" image.

Teach students to use POV to find documentation to support argumentative writing. • Teach students to use POV to find good topics to defend in argumentative writing. • Guide students to instruction on creating a good essay in POV. • Guide students to all the research help in POV. • Teach students to find charts, graphs, and pictures to include in their essays.

30. Tools on the right side allow students to save their work in several ways.

31. On the left side of the “homepage” for each topic you can also choose to looks at related information on that topic by type.

32. Bar at the top of POV allows one to return to a new search, view a list of publications in POV, view a list of subjects in POV, use a dictionary. On the right one can sign in to their account and access and save to their folder.
