  3. Muscular Endurance • The ability to use the muscles many times without tiring • Sustained muscle contractions Example exercises – sit ups, push ups, pull ups * Using a light weight many times

  4. Muscular Strength • The amount of force your muscles can exert against resistance Example exercises – resistance training * Lifting a heavy weight few times

  5. Cardiovascular Endurance • The ability to exercise the heart and lungs for a long period of time • The efficiency of your heart and lungs ability to transfer oxygen-rich blood to your working muscles during activities that last longer than 90 seconds Example exercises – running, swimming, biking

  6. Flexibility • The ability to use your joints in a full range of motion Example exercises – yoga, dance, gymnastics, stretching

  7. Body Composition • The percentage of body weight that is fat compared to lean body tissue • Lean body tissue – muscles, bones, organs, water

  8. Skill Related Fitness

  9. Agility • The ability to rapidly and accurately change the direction of the whole body in space

  10. Balance • The ability to maintain equilibrium while stationary or moving

  11. Coordination • The ability to use the senses and body parts in order to perform motor tasks smoothly and accurately

  12. Power • The amount of force a muscle can exert quickly

  13. Reaction Time • The ability to respond quickly to stimulus

  14. Speed • The amount of time it takes the body to perform specific tasks
