RECRUITMENT • Purpose of Volunteer and Guest Recruitment Committee • Develop a catalog of “Best Practices” for outreach and recruitment of new volunteers and give it the widest distribution possible • Monitor the effectiveness of the various methods and revise the catalog accordingly • Provide assistance where requested to implement the best practices
RECRUITMENT Oklahoma – Jim Key • Foundation = enthusiastic volunteers • Recruiting materials on Kairos website • Locally produced DVD with testimonies by volunteers, Kairos graduates and correctional officers • Key = working the interest cards • Kairos graduates’ participation at Methodist Conference

RECRUITMENT Texas – Ed Davis • Schedule weekends over a national holiday or over school holiday so hourly workers do not lose pay • Labor day, New Years Day, President’s Day are a good examples
RECRUITMENT Texas – Ed Davis • Publicity -Write stories for the local newspaper about Kairos weekend/Kairos method -Invite newspaper reporter to closing -Write annual newspaper piece on “Restorative Justice Week” (third week in October)
RECRUITMENT Texas – Ed Davis • Hold periodic “Celebrate Kairos Family Banquet” at a location central to multiple units • Schedule a “Homecoming Banquet” periodically in which previous and current team members are invited • Plan a periodic “Ex-mates Banquet” to honor Kairos grads and successful releases
RECRUITMENT Texas – Ed Davis • Schmooze DOC officials including your warden and chaplain by holding “appreciation’ events • Hold a “Correctional Officer Appreciation Day” • Hold a Parole Officer Appreciation Day • (Combine some of these events) • Create an AC committee to do these things
