Introduction and program description • In Kenya, approximately 1/26 children die before age 1, and 1/19 do not survive to age 5.(MOH: Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Policy, 2017.) • Major childhood illnesses: Acute respiratory diseases, Diarrhea, Malaria, Anemia, and Malnutrition • Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses strategy has helped in improving access to quality child health services • Through ‘HudumaPoa’ Social Franchising KMET supports 110 private facilities in 13 Counties to implement IMNCI strategy.

  6. Management of Diarrhea ORT usage 94%

  7. Lessons Learnt • Adherence to standards and guidelines improves quality • CHVs play a key role in demand creation • Effective Public Private Partnership improves access to services • Involvement of Private health sector is an important drive towards increasing access to quality child health services.

  8. Recommendations and way forward • MOH to attach CHVs to all facilities including private sector to increase demand for services • Capacity building of all providers including the private sector
