ACEMS Project Objective – develop and implement a CUNY wide Emergency Management System that will include: • A CUNY-wide assessment of EMS capabilities for each campus. • Improved Technology Bridge to: • Involved Public Safety Agencies. • All CUNY EMS Managers. • A web based, EMIS (Emergency Management Information System). • An Early Warning Early Detection System to help prevent or mitigate the occurrence of an emergency situation. • Funding provided by the US Dept. of Education, Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools.

Current Security Use of Biometrics on College Campuses • Security Management, February 2010, www.securitymanagement.com • Graduate Management Admission Council owns and administers a standardized test for graduate business and management programs worldwide. • 2008, 260,000 took GMAT in one of 450 testing centers in 110 countries • For security, photographed test takers, digital signatures • Collected fingerprints at all testing centers since 1996: used after each of 2 test breaks

GMAC application, continued • Since 1998, using palm vein patterns for security; political problems around privacy issues and connotations of taking someone’s fingerprints with use of fingerprint-based security • Still use photograph and digital signature • Being used in 90% of testing centers • Other Applications: • Variable access control, financial transaction security
