I am due at a barbecue this afternoon. It is about half past three at my in-laws. My wife has gone on ahead. I will follow-on on my bicycle. I will cycle there. I will cycle to the barbecue. My mother-in-law and my father-in-law are expecting me. My sisters-in-law and my brother-in-law will be there also. I should better not be late. BBQ = barbecue
I went down to the garage to check on my bike. I wanted to make sure that it was roadworthy. My bike had a puncture. The rear tyre was flat. I took off the wheel. I brought the wheel up to the house. I used tyre-levers to remove the tyre. A thorn was stuck in the tyre. The thorn punctured the inner-tube.
I removed the thorn. I found the puncture in the inner-tube. I repaired the puncture with a patch. I patched the inner-tube. I replaced the inner-tube in the tyre. I placed the tyre onto the wheel. I pumped the tyre up with my pump. Never go out without your bike pump. It can save your life. I pumped the tyre up till it was hard enough. I checked if the puncture was repaired properly. I replaced the wheel on the bike.
Now I can get to the barbecue on time. I can change a tyre. I can repair a puncture. We use a patch to patch a puncture. We can patch the elbow of a jacket. We can patch things up. We can pump up our muscles. I go to the gym to pump up my muscles. I do a little exercise every day. We have a lot of normal, everyday language in whatever we talk about.

Turn the wheel until the valve is on the bottom. Uncoil the hose. Turn from the left to the right position. Hold the pump down firmly. Start pulling upwards. When you have reached the right pressure, unlock the connecter. Finally, coil the hose like this. You can carry the pump with you.
