All About Tombs • The oldest tombs go back to about 2750 B.C. during the first and second dynasties. • Recently, 53 stones to various ancient periods were found. • When someone died in ancient Egyptian times, they preserved their bodies. • They also preserved and mummified cat bodies. • Every cat had their own tomb.

  3. Temples • The Egyptians thought that the gods and goddesses lived in their temples. • Pepi-Nakht’stemple is in poor condition, yet the autobiographical text is in good shape. • One of the most mysterious places in ancient Egypt was inside a temple. • Due to the lack of wood, the temples were made of stone.

  4. One More Fact! • There were sometimes gardens or courtyards outside of the temples.
