Thermal Simulation Request and Definition Form Version 20140721
Introduction One of the most important parts of any analysis is proper setup and definition. Without clear and precise setup the results of an analysis can be off by orders of magnitude. This document will guide you through a step by step process to define the thermal model and associated boundary conditions to ensure accurate results. Throughout this document, there will be places to add text, makes selections, and add pictures. These places will be indicated in YELLOW highlighting or shapes. Please add information as required in the indicated areas by using your mouse to click until the text cursor appears, then type in the requested information. Additional Notes • Submit completed forms to thermal.sim@xicato.com along with CAD files in STEP (.stp) format. • Simulation results are generally accurate to +/- 5C, however, results are not a guarantee of performance and serve as design guidance only. Prototype luminaires should always be constructed and tested. • Simulation does not qualify under the Xicato Luminaire Thermal Validation Program – see program requirements for details. • Drivers and electronics can be simulated for power dissipation into a luminaire, but the driver max temperature or Tc point can not be predicted as the internal construction and placement of hot components within the driver is unknown. • Simulation turnaround time is generally between 2 and 10 working days depending on backlog and simulation complexity. • For additional help or information, please contact your Xicato technical representative, or email support@xicato.com.
