Gaining shared ownership of the leadership and management development process • The LMDP has a vision and strategy that are relevant to the business • Those representing HR and management development are assertive in interpreting business priorities and in translating these into well-resourced and well-understood policies and practices • The LMDP is owned by managers and has strong external consistency • The LMDP is well integrated with other HR strategies and practices • Managers are trained in how to train and develop others and in how to implement the LMDP across the organisation • Where an organisation is decentralised, the units as well as the centre are actively involved in planning, operating and evaluating the LMDP • The LMDP encompasses a critical mass and is founded on transparent, relevant and fair principles.
