  3. Project Objective • Collects the network related information of NREN of Asia Pacific region • Information gathering through the questionnaire survey, and sharing information Further activation of APAN community

  4. Research Plan • Respondents • APAN members (15 + 1 new) • Procedure • Questionnaire answer form. The questionnaire concerning the network circumstances in each country of NREN’s • APAN Sec sends it after Manila Meeting.

Schedule • 2007 Jan. 22—26 APAN Manila meeting • The contents of this questionnaire are discussed in the backbone meeting. • After fixing it, APAN Sec. sends it to respondents by Email just after APAN Manila Meeting • 2007 Jan. 22– Feb. 23 answer and sending back period • 2007 Mar.1—Mar.23 Edit of sheets of answers. • 2007 Mar.31 The Research Company will offer deliverables to APAN. • 2007 Apr.1 APAN Sec. put the result on the APAN Web.

Research Outline [Draft doc on the Web] • Estmated answering time: About 30 minutes, hopefully • Composition • customer/clients (current state of customers and clients who connects it with NREN) • network (and others of capacity of trunk line of NREN) • traffic (entering of NREN network and flowing quantity of going out) • funding and the number of people (Budget related to NREN and number of engaging people and others) • service • Attribute information (respondent's where to make contact etc.)

  8. Disclosing the information • The information is opened to the public unless you check “NO”. • The check box is attached to each question.

  9. Deliverables • The research company analyzes answers in the research company, and after it arranges it like understanding the situation of each NREN easily, it offers it to the APAN secretariat. • In the APAN secretariat, it opens it to the public with APAN Web based on this result.

  10. Confidentiality of information • Research company • The research company is based on the confidentiality of information, and after it offers it to the APAN secretariat, all the material that is acquired in the main enumeration like individual information from each NREN and the questionnaire and the edit result of the collection etc. and made is abandoned promptly. • APAN secretariat • In the APAN secretariat, use collected information only when contributing to the development of the APAN community. Moreover, undisclosed information is strictly managed, and it doesn't offer it to the third party at all.

  11. Incentives or honorarium • Incentives is paid by local (JP) currency if you send the form back. • In Japanese yen, about 20,000 yen is scheduled. • You can decline this honorarium. • Payment method, flexible
