What method would I use to find the volume of a plastic toy “Agent P”? Why? • What kind of math problem is required to find displacement? • What metric units are used to represent mass? • What are 3 equivalent formulas for finding the volume of a regular shaped object? • What are 3 equivalent units for volume in the metric system? • If you have 15 cc’s of H2O2, how many milliliters is this? • What does dm stand for? • What form of matter can be made up of a crystal lattice? • Which form of matter is more energetic, plasma or gas?
Summary At the end of your Cornell Notes for Physical vs. Chemical: 1) Tell what the difference is between Physical & Chemical Changes…..or how can you determine whether a substance has gone through a physical or chemical change? 2) Why is density an effective way of identifying a specific type of matter?
Intro to Density How tightly packed the particles are in a substance. vs. 1. What is mass effected by? A block of iron has very tightly packed compared to aluminum. 2. Will changing the volume change the density? NO. Density is a RATIO between mass and volume….the particles remain packed the same way no matter what the size of the sample.
3. What are three ways to find volume? • Use a G.C. • bxh • displacement Yes. You will have more particles so mass will increase. BUT the density is the same. vs. 4. Will changing the volume change the mass?
Finding Volume • The length is 3 cm the width is 4 cm and the height is 5 cm. • The length is 4 dm, the width is 6 dm and height is 9 dm. The volume is? • The length is 10 m, the width is 4 meters the height is 7 meters. The volume is?
