Problem • Lack of Conformance to Law • Lack of and/or poor enforcement of policy • Inefficient staffing • Deficient application • Serious backlog of death certificates • Birth certificates the only electronic entry • Inadequate storage of original documents • No funding for improvements/enhancements • Local Registrars

  3. Solution • Immediate adherence to all laws and rules • Reinforce policy and discipline for violation • Evaluate staff and reassign as appropriate • Work with NCHS to reduce backlog • Begin electronic entry of all events • Move original documents to state archives • Went backwards…… • Mandated cooperation and conformance to policy
