Lesson 46Conjunctions If we wish to designate number that are greater than 5 we write x > 5. If we wish to designate numbers that are less than 10 we write x < 10. If we wish to designate numbers which are greater than 5 and that are also less than 10, we can write x > 5 AND x < 10 or 5 < x < 10 Both notations mean the same thing and designate the numbers BETWEEN 5 & 10. We call this a CONJUNCTION.
Examples Ex 46.1 Draw a number line and graph the solution of 5 < x <10. Ex 46.2 Draw a number line and graph the solution of -2 < x < 4. Ex 46.3 Write the conjunction that describes this graph. On Line Practice Ex 46.4 Write a conjunction that designates the numbers that are greater than -1 & less that or equal to 5.
