In English the direct object is an object that receives the direct action from the verb • Ex: I wash the table. • In this sentence your direct object is the table, it receives the action of the verb, the table is what it being cleaned by me. • Now you have to replace the direct object (the table) with a direct object pronoun (it) • The sentence now looks like this: I wash it.
