Strategy updateBrick overview The Alcatel-Lucent VPN Firewall Brick (Brick) product line, developed by our Bell Labs research arm, was introduced to the market in 1998. Over the years, the Brick features have expanded to address the needs of both Carrier and Enterprise market, and during these 12+ years, it has been a pioneer in many firewall technologies which have resulting in several patents. While we believe the product line is a world-class firewall and VPN portfolio, the market has moved strategically towards unified threat management and evolving security technologies. Strategy updateMoving forward Significant investments are needed in order to evolve the VPN Firewall Brick technology to meet the integrated security challenges that both the market and our customers are demanding. In reviewing the business case to evolve the VPN Firewall Brick technology, Alcatel-Lucent has taken the strategic decision to increase our footprint in Enterprise by leveraging third party partnerships. This move is aiming at developing our sales more rapidly and at extending our capabilities in term of Go to Market. As a result of this strategic step aimed at consolidating our overall security offer, the following will be implemented immediately. • The VPN Firewall Brick product line will be phased out and sales will end 90 days after this announcement. Orders will be accepted 60 days after this announcement. • Support of the VPN Firewall Brick product line and associated software will be as per standard hardware and software support policy. Strategy updateEvolution strategy Our port-folio includes a comprehensive set of security solutions for our customers. This includes the embedded security features of the OmniSwitch and OmniAccess WLAN portfolios, the OmniAccess 5700 Unified Services Gateway, the Fortinet portfolio, VitalQIP, 8950AAA , the InfoExpress Cybergatekeeper as well as tools like Quarantine Manager and Access Guardian. VoIP securization, in association with the OmniPCX Enterprise, is based, as before, on the TeOZ product for Multimedia server protection, the IPTouch solution for encryption and the Neogate product for SBC type function (SIP trunking etc…). Product managementSupport policy • Product discontinuation will be pronounced 90 days after notification Orders will be taken no later than 60 days after receipt of the notice of discontinuance, for delivery at the latest 90 days after reception of such orders. In some specific situations, extension of sales could be granted, after a case by case analysis). • Sw support policy is 2 years on major releases with new release & 2 releases back (currently 9.2, 9.3 & 9.4). • Hw support is 5 years after end of Sales. • Today the current models status is • Models with EoS already done • B20: HW support until June 2012 • B80: HW support until Nov 2010 • B500: HW support until Oct 2010 • B350 and B1100: HW support until November 2012 • B50, B150, B700 &nd B1200 HW support until June 2015
