What shape? Please read the instructions first!!
How to play This game is for two or even better two pairs of players: Teams A and B: Take turns to decide on the correct shape answer. You must explain to the other person/team why you think you are correct, and how you worked it out. While you are playing this game, you will find out about 3D shapes!
Explain why you think you are right, BEFORE you click! A kite A rhombus A parallelogram Team A goes first! Look at the shape and decide which it is.
You guessed well !!!! It is a kite. How do you know? Adjacent sides are the same length. Now it is time for Team B to have a go. Please click on the triangular prism for the next problem ….
OOOPS! Please try again. Click on the cuboid to go back to the question.
How did you work it out? Tell the other team before you click! There are two lines of symmetry. There is one line of symmetry. There are four lines of symmetry Here is the second problem for team B this time…
You guessed well !!!! Two lines of symmetry! This is a rhombus and the lines of symmetry run from angle to angle. Now it is time for Team A to have another go. Please click on the cone to find the next problem….
Sorry! Please try again. Click on the cone net to go back to the question.
Here comes the second question for Team A! Has one set of parallel lines. A parallelogram Has two sets of parallel lines Has three sets of parallel lines
That’s brilliant !!!! Two sets of parallel lines! The two sets are opposite each other. Now it is time for team B to have a go. Please click on the square pyramid for the next question….
Please have another go at working out the shape. Click on the cone to go back to the question.
Name a shape with one right angle and three sides. An equilateral triangle A right angled triangle A parallelogram Team B: please try this shape problem!
Well done! You are getting good at this! A right angled triangle is the right answer!! The hexagonal prism net will take Team A to the next shape problem. • How do you know? All triangles have three sides and a right angled triangle has one right angle.
Please have another guess! The triangular pyramid will return you to the problem page
Now the next shape problem is for team A! We are trying to make them a bit more difficult each time. Name a shape which has four right angles and four sides which are the same length A rectangle A square A rhombus
Just right! A brilliant guess! It’s definitely a square!! Team B must whizz onto the sphere and go to the next problem!
Go on! Have another guess! The prism net is waiting to take you back!
What shapes are here? An equilateral and a scalene triangle An isoceles and a right angle triangle An isoceles and an equilateral triangle This problem is here to tax team B’s brains and make their cells buzz! A brain cell
You are stars! The two triangles are isoceles and equilateral Team A must jump on the cube net to be beamed to the next problem!
AAAAAAArgh!!!! Error! Error! Please return to the question by using the sphere.
I have four lines of symmetry. Who am I? I am rhombus. I am a square. I am a parallelogram Are you ready team A for this little problem?
Correct! Well done! Whizzo! I am a square!! Now it is time for team B to press on any shape to discover their next problem!
Oh dear! I’m sure you didn’t mean to press that one. Please press on the cuboid net to return to the problem Have you worked out what a net is yet?
I have two equal sides I can be a square or an isoceles triangle I can be an equilateral triangle or a trapezium. I can be a scalene triangle or a rhombus The little problem for Team B!!
You are so right!! The correct answer is square or isoceles triangle You are now well prepared to play “Quadrilaterals Connect Four” a game of skill, ingenuity and your knowledge of multiplying big numbers! Team A need to get close to the equilateral prisms to find their last problem! !
Oh no! You have made a slip at the last moment! Don’t despair! Take the pyramid net back to the problem and try again.
I have got adjacent sides equal We hope you have kept on explaining to each other how you worked out your estimate!!! I am an equilateral triangle I am a right angled triangle I am a kite The last problem for Team A!!
Wow! You’re right! You can be a kite or an equilateral triangle Well done team A! You are now ready to play “Quadrilaterals Connect Four” a game of skill, ingenuity and your knowledge of shapes! Here are two stars! You can pin them on and tell team B to click on the cylinder to get their last problem.
EEEEEEEEK! We are sure that was a slip of the finger. Travel by cone back to the problem.
I have two pairs of parallel lines I am a scalene triangle I am a parallelogram I am a square Team B!! Are you ready for your last brain taxing problem?
I can be a square or a parallelogram Well done team B! You are now ready to play “Quadrilaterals Connect Four” a game of skill, ingenuity and your knowledge of shapes! Here are two stars! You can pin them on, and clicking them will take you back to the beginning of the game!!
Sorry you have to try again! The cubeoctahedron will take you back. Good luck next time!
