  2. Fine Arts OverviewPeriod 1 • Exposure to many forms of art • Drawing, painting, sculpture, mix-media, crafts etc… • Grades based on effort and meeting requirements of assignments. • Art Show in April at Open House

  3. ELA Overview • Reading - Class novels, At home novels/readings, Non-fiction and Poetry • Writing - Structure of writing, Six-Traits of Writing, Short writes, Essays and poetry. • Listening - Understanding instructions, Understanding peers. • Speaking - Class discussions, peer discussions and presentations.

  4. Grading • Formative Assessments • Homework and Class Work • Student work drives my instruction • Summative Assessments • Quizzes, Tests, Projects and Essays

  5. Grading Austin’s Grading Scale 100 - 90 = A 89 - 80 = B 79 - 70 = C 69 - 60 = D 59 - 50= F No grades under 50% for work attempted.

How it Works • 10/10 + 5/10 = 15/20 = C • 15/20 + 10/10 = 25/30 = B • 25/30 + 10/10 = 35/40 = B+ • 35/40 + 10/10 = 45/50 = A- •  • 10/10 =A + 0/10= 10/20 = F • 10/20 + 10/10 = 20/30 = D • 20/30 + 10/10 = 30/40 = C • 30/40 + 10/10 = 40/50 = B- • 40/50 + 10/10 = 50/60 = B- • 50/60 + 10/10 = 60/70 = B • 60/70 + 10/10 = 70/80 = B+ • 70/80 + 10/10 = 80/90 = B+ • 80/90 + 10/10 = 90/100 = A- 

  8. Homework • 20-30 minutes per night average. • Assignments written on board and recorded into student planners • Homework website • Homework buddies

  9. Redo/Fix Work • If work states redo – it must be done immediately that night. • All work can be improved • Fixes may be done on existing work in different color ink. • All redo/fixed work can receive full credit first week. If done, after it is considered late.

  10. Late Work • Late work during 1st week -11%, 2nd week -21% 3+ weeks late -30% • Students in the D and F range will be subject to Saturday to improve their grades. • No work accepted last week of quarter.

  11. Absence Policy • Students are responsible for missed homework and class work. • Resources – Website, me and homework buddy. • See me for explanations and quiz make ups.

  12. Team Rules • Barracudas will: • 1.Work Hard • 2. Be Nice • If not: • 1. I will speak with them • 2. Call home – possible • detentions • 3. Referral to office

  13. Materials and Supplies • Expanding File or binder with dividers, individual folders • Pencils with Erasers • Red, Black or Blue Pens • Highlighter • The Extras • Large Eraser • Ruler • Colored Pencils
