Sample Objective To secure a middle grades teaching position that utilizes my passion for integrative learning as well as my organizational, technical and interpersonal skills. To obtain a high school English teaching position while also using my interest in coaching baseball or softball. Seeking an elementary school teaching role, open to incorporating my strengths in music and choir to best benefit the students.

Formatting Tips • Avoid using a template • High quality paper in a neutral color (white or ivory) • Font size ranges from 10-12 point, basic black font such as Times New Roman or Arial • Margins approximately half to one inch on all sides • Each position description contains the same information in the same order. For example….position title, employer, city and state, dates. • Reverse Chronological Order
Formatting Tips • Description phrases begin with action verbs • Eliminate phrases such as “responsibilities included” or “duties included” • Text consists of concise phrases rather than sentences; Avoid using the word “I” • Avoid using graphics or colors • Check your resume for spelling, grammar and punctuation errors • Have someone else check for errors as well • Come to the Career Center for a resume review
References • Include name, title, position, and relationship to you; school district or organization, address, phone numbers and email addresses. • Remember to ask permission of your recommenders before listing their names.
