Focus on Transportation Management • Learn to understand transportation systems from a real-world management perspective • Learn to manage: - a transportation or transit agency - a public works department - a major project or investment study • Core classes take an in-depth look at transportation policy, planning, and systems

Four Program Offerings • Master of Science (MSTM) - Total of 10 classes to earn degree - 6 core classes, 3 electives - Culminating capstone course • Graduate Certificate (CTM) - 4 core classes - OR 3 core classes and 1 elective • Transportation Security Certificate (CTS) • - 2 security classes, 2 core classes • High-Speed Rail Management Certificate • - 2 HSR classes, 2 core classes

Core Courses • MTM 201: Fundamentals of Transportation Management • MTM 202: Introduction to Transportation Funding and Finance • MTM 203: Transportation Markets and Business Development • MTM 214: Transportation Policy and Regulation • MTM 215: Transportation Systems Planning and Development • MTM 217: Leadership and Management of Transportation Organizations

Affordability: Key incentive Continuing Student Performance Awards • Recognize academic performance • Financially motivate students who intend to accelerate program completion Master’s Students • Eligible to receive $1,250 award up to four times during the MSTM program Certificate Students • Eligible to receive $750 award up to two times during the CTM program

  10. Distance Learning • Classes are delivered by two-way, interactive video-conferencing • Programs are available at SJSU and Caltrans District Offices • Classes are archived on the web

Accelerated Format • Earn your Master of Science in Transportation Management in a little over two years, concurrent with full-time employment • Take one course at a time, one night per week for each of 10 class sessions • Classes are offered in four sessions each academic year (two in fall, two in spring)

  12. Master of Science in Transportation Management • Target Requirements - Degree from an accredited college/university - 3.0 GPA - 500 GMAT - TOEFL (if undergraduate degree program was in a language other than English)

  13. Certificates in Transportation Management & Security For those not ready to pursue the master’s program, but who wish to advance their transportation careers • Target Requirements - Degree from an accredited college/university - 2.5 GPA - No GMAT

  14. Frequently Asked Questions Do I really have to take the GMAT? • Yes, to be admitted into the MSTM program - unless you already have a Master’s degree in a related field. Can a GRE or LSAT substitute for GMAT? • No, the GMAT is required.

  15. Frequently Asked Questions Can I transfer graduate units from another institution into the CTM or MSTM? • MSTM up to six units • CTM no Can I transfer units from CTM into MSTM? • Six units may be transferred from the CTM into the MSTM provided all MSTM admissions requirements are met.
