Summary of STAAR Grades 3-8 • Grades 3-8 • Measures readiness for college and career success using two standards (proficiency and college readiness) • Increases in rigor (a higher level of thinking in relation to content skills), length (more test items), and number of write-in responses • Standards will not be set until fall 2012
Summary of STAAR EOCs • EOCs • Cover 4 subject areas; total of 12 • 3 standards – Minimum, Proficient, College Ready • Cumulative based on satisfactory performance • 15% of final grade • Standards will be set February 2012 with first reports available spring 2012 and retests offered summer 2012
