Research Team Summaries • Team 1*: LIDAR-based sampling procedures for regional forest biomass and carbon estimation: exploring relationships between data extracted from airborne LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), biomass/carbon stocks and the processes associated with carbon sequestration of boreal and temperate forest ecosystems. • Leaders: Paul Bolstad UMN. Summaries contd • Team 2*: Ecological, technical and economic aspects of bioenergy based on forestry and agriculture resources: exploring ways to integrate forest biofuels production with existing timber and forest management; and advancing the opportunities for forest-based biomass production in Norway and Minnesota through the exchange of information on biomass production and processing technologies. • Leaders: Dean Current and Howard Hoganson UMN.
