Session Objectives • Highlight efforts by researchers, institutions, funders, and journals to increase transparency in proposing and reporting pre-clinical biomedical research • Discuss the incentives, disincentives, challenges, and opportunities for researchers when it comes to transparent reporting of pre-clinical biomedical research • Discuss experience with implementation of policies to encourage transparent reporting in pre-clinical biomedical research • Consider the role of stakeholders in supporting a cultural shift towards transparent reporting

  4. Overcoming Cultural Barriers to Open Science • Research institutions should work to create a culture that actively supports Open Science by Design by better rewarding and supporting researchers engaged in open science practices. • Research funders should provide explicit and consistent support for practices and approaches that facilitate this shift in culture and incentives. A set of principles and practices that fosters openness throughout the entire research life cycle.
