  1. Bellwork • Write down what you consider to be the single most important contribution to medicine/health care. • Explain and give examples of why you believe it to hold that idea to be the most important.

  2. History of Medicine Prepare a presentation based on the subject below in the history of medicine. The presentation should be factual based with references to the people or things that innovated the field.   3. You will choose 1(or 2) of the following historical subjects • Your presentation should include one of the following: figures in history. You may work in a team of 2 or by yourself. You will be assigned one of the following subjects. • The contributions of: • Galen • Rhazes • Islamic hospitals • Jacoba Felicie • Robert Hooke • Antonie van Leeuwenhoek • Francis Bacon • Louis Pasteur • Joseph Lister • Robert Koch • Ignaz Semmelweis • John Snow • Marie Curie • Steve Thomas • Alexander Fleming

  4. How you earn credit for this assignment • All students are required to take notes from each presentation and turn them in as part of credit for this assignment. • The notes will accompany the student evaluations.

Student evaluation form • Evaluation should be based on a scale of 1-5 • Evaluation should be based on a scale of 1-5 • Did not satisfy the objective…I neither learned anything nor was remotely entertained. Could not pronounce their words, just read to us like this was the first time that they had seen the information • I got a little out of it. It was OK. At least they didn’t have to read to us. • It was pretty good. I learned a few things. It had some interesting facts/made me think • Good stuff. I learned a lot and found it entertaining as well! Everyone shared in the presentation. • Wow! This was awesome. Nominate this for an Oscar, Grammy or whatever the teachers hand out. Everyone knew their stuff and shared in the presentation.
