They usually happen at the most inopportune times (e.g., when you’re preparing for a life-changing exam like the IELTS), draining your study drive and affecting your cognitive faculties. If you’re unfortunate enough to experience one during your PTE online course, don’t worry. All is not lost. Here are six easy but effective steps to overcoming a study slump. 1. Acknowledge that you’re in a slump. Denying it will only keep you from getting over your slump. So, accept it. Remind yourself that it won’t last forever and you will get better eventually.
2. Don’t wait for it to pass. Once you’ve accepted that you’re in a slump, don’t wallow in it. Don’t use it as an excuse to put your test preparations on hold. Yes, you are not in the right mindset for review. But, that doesn’t mean that you have to wait it out. Remember, as a PTE online course student, time is not your friend. 3. Talk to someone about it. This is one of the easiest ways to take the edge off of your slump. Open up to someone. Together, try to figure out what caused your slump and how you can overcome it. Just make sure the person you open up to is empathetic to your situation. Otherwise, you’ll only make it worse. 4. Do something constructive. Can’t find the motivation or the concentration to study your PTE online course review materials? Then, do something else. Something constructive that doesn’t demand the same level of attention as reading a book or answering a practice test. Here are some examples of such activities. Meditate. Rewrite your lecture notes. Organize your PTE training materials. Watch videos of motivational speakers. Write down your thoughts and ideas. Re-assess your commitments. 5. Schedule attainable goals. Setting unrealistic goals is one of the common causes of study burnouts. So, make sure all your objectives are doable. A great way to ensure this is by coming up with a study timetable. Make a list of all the things you need to accomplish. Then, schedule when you’ll do them. Complying with a self- imposed deadline will help you maintain your PTE review progress. 6. Have someone keep tabs over your PTE review progress. Ideally, someone who won’t tolerate your excuses and push you to accomplish your tasks. Someone who you interact with every day so they can really monitor you. Give them a copy of your PTE online course review syllabus and study timetable, so they’ll know what to keep track of.
