Action Deafness Strategic Services • Communication & Interpreting • Information, Advice, Guidance & Advocacy • Learning & Training • Community Support Service • Deaf Parenting Project • Children & Young People • HEARnow Project (BME) • Language Support • To 189,000 Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, deafened and deafblind people

Community Support Service • There is a flexibility of Action Deafness’ Community Support Service as a floating Support service, filling in the much needed gaps accessible • Community Support Provision is based upon 5 Outcomes for Independent Living and advocacy support. • Cost effective impact overall over residential care: mainstreamed referrals are offered support via private homecare organisations at a considerable cost to the Council. • It would also allow Action Deafness, as a local level third sector, to develop a more interactive and long term specialist service previously none available in Leicester for Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and Deafblind people.

Who are the Providers The referral routes • Self referral . – DP, IB or Personalisation • Adults and Social Care • Rehab units • Residential homes • Local Authorities (East Midlands) • Health (inc. PCT/NHS services). • Housing Services • Supporting People funded providers. • Voluntary organisations

  5. Success of Future Jobs Fund • FJF funding by DWP in partnership with CLG and JCP to create 170,000 jobs between Oct 2009 – March 2011 • AD aims to create 61 posts between March 2010 – March 2011 • Aimed at 18-24 years old and older persons from unemployment hotspots. • Offer of a job, work experience or training lasting at least 6 months

  6. The 61 jobs deployed in 7 projects: • 1. Community Support Service - 31 posts • 2. Deaf Parenting - 16 posts • 3. HearNow - 3 posts • 4. BSL in Schools - 6 posts • 5. Action Deafness Books - 1 post • 6. Action Deafness Health & Well-being - 2 posts • 7. Action Deafness Communication - 2 posts • Sustainability through Social Enterprise
