Sedimentary Rock Sedimentary rock • Sedimentary rocks are made of sediments. • Most sedimentary rocks are made when sediments are compacted together. • Crystals hold together a sedimentary rock until it turns in to a solid rock. • One of the many types of sedimentary rocks are clay.
Igneous Rock • When a rock melts, cools, and hardens it turns in to igneous rock. • The color and texture of an igneous rock make a difference in how it is used. • Most of the time magma makes it to the surface before hardening. • Igneous rocks comes from lava after hardening at the surface.
Metamorphic Rock • Lots of heat and pressure can change one rock in to another rock. • One of the many types of coal is a metamorphic rock which is called anthracite(hard coal). • Here are a few different types of metamorphic rocks: Granite, Shale, Slate, Sandstone, and Limestone. • Anthracite does not provide as much energy than other types of coal.
