Part 1: Before the Interview • Do your research. Learn about the company. • Know where you’re going and arrive early. • Dress for success: • Women- dress, skirt (not too short!), dress pants with a blouse or blazer • Men- pants (no jeans!), collared shirt, tie, sport coat, nice shoes • Keep perfume/cologne to a minimum
Part 2: Start of the Interview • Look into interviewer’s eyes, smile, shake hands firmly, introduce yourself, be confident! • Sell yourself- be positive in your communication • Avoid: bad posture, fidgeting, cursing, chewing gum
Part 3: Middle of the Interview • Use positive body language • Let the interviewer know your skills, knowledge, and experience that make you the best candidate • Be humble and willing to learn • Be honest • Elaborate on answers instead of just “yes” or “no”
Part 4: End of the Interview • Have job related questions prepared for the end • Make sure interviewer knows how to contact you • Thank the interviewer and shake hands firmly
Part 5: The Follow-Up • Send a thank you note • Call the company in a week to find out if they’ve made a decision or when they expect to have made one
