  3. SIHC History • SIHC came into existence quickly, just before the beginning of last season (2011-12) due to the July announcement by Bob Strong that the Sonoran Youth Hockey League would not be able to operate for the 2011-12 season. • SIHC was created as a cooperative effort to provide games for the Peewee, Bantam, and Midget teams no longer part of the SYHL. SIHC was created and initially run by Gina Quinn from the Arizona Hockey Union and Tom Herman from the El Paso Rhinos. • Last season, SIHC decided to add Mite and Squirt levels to the league, as well as "Elite" divisions targeted at AA-level teams. • This season the Evolution (Co.), Ft. Collins (Co.) and Tucson organizations have shown interest in joining the league.

  4. Overview • Balanced league schedule of 18-22 games depending on number of teams in each division. There could also be developmental exhibition games scheduled outside of your division. • Goal is competitive balance in each division • Each team will be asked to pay $50 towards the costs associated with creating and maintaining SIHC website. • Scorekeepers and refs will be provided by each home team. • Home teams cover all costs, and as long as the number of host games balance out, this should cover most expenses without trying to figure out different ice/official costs for each game.

  5. Overview • For out of valley teams, the SIHC will be working hard to balance travel and home games • Possible that a minimum of 2 out-of-state travel weekends for AZ teams • If your organization has ice availability to host out of state weekends, please let us know as by Aug 1 so arrangements can be made • For the League Playoff Weekend, it is being considered that some divisions may have their final weekend in cities outside the Valley. Proposal dates for non-valley playoff weekends due by Sep 1
