  2. Percent • The ratio of a number to 100. • Can be converted to a fraction or to a decimal.

  3. To convert a % into a Decimal… Move the decimal over two spots to the left and drop the %

  4. Write as a decimal:137% = 1.37

  5. Write as a decimal:0.5% = 00000 0.005

  6. Write as a decimal:100% = 1

  7. To convert the % into a fraction... Drop the percent sign put the number over 100 and reduce if possible

  8. Write as a fraction:29% =

  9. Write as a fraction:14% =

  10. •10 ÷25 •10 ÷25 Cannot leave fractions or decimals in fractions Write as a fraction:37.5% =

  11. Write a Fraction as a % Set your fraction = to x/100 and solve for x

  19. Steps • Read the question thoroughly a few times • Write down information the problem gives you • Form an equation • Solve • Check your answer

  20. The tax on an car was 6% of its price. What was the price of the car if the tax was $633? -Price of car ? X -Tax is 6 % of price of car 0.06(x) -Total tax is $633 0.06(x) = 633 -Solve x = 633/0.06 x = 10,550 -Check the price of the car was $10550. If we find 6% of 10,550 we get $633 so it checks out 
